MARKO KUSMUK THE AMBASSADOR OF OUR CULTURE IN JAPAN
The artist is going to take part in the event which is being held from 20th of July to 30th of August and he is going to present his painting “Obverse and Reverse” (,,Lica i naličja”). This event has been held since 1973. This year on the International Art Symposium in the Japanese city Otawara, which has been held since 1973, Serbia will be represented by an academic painter Marko Kusmuk.
The Art Symposium lasts for 40 days and is going to be held from 20th of July to 30th of August. During his stay in the Far East, Kusmuk is going to present parts of his doctorate “Art deconstruction of the dualism of obverse and reverse” (,,Likovna dekonstrukcija u dualizmu lica i naličja’’), which he defensed at the Faculty of Arts and Design (Fakultet za umetnost i dizajn) under the supervision of Professor Milos Sobajic (Miloš Šobajić) and Tijana Fisic (Tijana Fišić). Emir Kusturica supports him Marko had a chance to present his art work at the exhibition which was a part of this year’s festival “Kustendorf”. Beside the guests of the festival, his works were seen by a crew of a movie “On the Milky Road” (,,Na mlečnom putu”) in the “Lubarda” gallery in Andricgrad (Andrićgrad). |

At the International Art Symposium in Ottawara, Japan, which has been held since 1973, Serbia will be represented by an academic painter Marko Kusmuk this year. At the prestigious event will be artists from only eight countries, and Marko will present one of the paintings from the cycle "Faces and Backgrounds". The Art Symposium will last for 40 days, and will be held from July 20 to August 30. During his stay in the Far East, Kusmuk will present parts of his doctoral thesis "Art deconstruction in dualism facial and reverse", which he defended several days ago at the Faculty of Arts and Design under the mentorship of Professor Miloš Šobajić and Tijana Fišić. The director Emir Kusturica wrote a few words about Marko’s work: By looking at these paintings, the first impression you get is that this is the work of a painter who uses unusually strong figuration and whose drawings reminiscent of what used to be good in Bosnia. It is wonderful that this young man synthesizes a type of an artistic experience which has almost vanished in the times when painting in Sarajevo was a part of a positive trend. Back then, combined people and nations, under the good control of the government, managed to create good things in painting, short and long movie, and literature from time to time – said Kusturica.
